More Than a Ministry. A Place to Belong.

More than fifty years ago, one family's willingness to open their home became the beginning of a story only God could write.

What started with a simple act of compassion has grown into Galilean Home Ministries, located in Liberty, KY—a place where children and adults with special needs are welcomed as family, encouraged to grow, and reminded every day that they are deeply loved by God.

Over the years, that same heart has inspired new ways to serve, including Galilean Christian Academy and Bread of Life Café. Though the ministry has grown, its purpose has never changed: to share the hope of Christ by loving people well and making room for one more.
Today, that story continues through every resident, every student, every volunteer, every supporter, and every life touched by God's faithfulness.
Faith. Hope. And room for one more.

A Story More Than Fifty Years in the Making

Every ministry has a beginning. Ours began with one family who believed that when God places someone in your path, you simply love them well.
What followed wasn't a carefully planned roadmap—it was a lifetime of faithfully saying "yes" as God continued to open new doors. Here's a look at some of the moments that have shaped Galilean Home Ministries over the years.

A Journey Begins

On January 21, 1963, Jerry and Sandy Tucker were married. Neither came from wealth or prominence, but after giving their hearts to Christ, they committed their lives to following wherever God would lead. What began as an ordinary marriage would become the foundation of an extraordinary ministry.

Following God's Leading

Jerry and Sandy's growing family took them from Michigan to Kentucky, then to Montana, and back to Kentucky. Along the way, they fostered and adopted children, never losing their dream of building a family filled with love, faith, and room for one more.

Building the Log House

Construction began on the iconic log house that would become a lasting symbol of Galilean Home Ministries. Built with the help of volunteers and supporters, it represented more than a building—it represented a commitment to providing children with a place to call home.

GHM Is Incorporated

Galilean Home Ministries officially became an incorporated ministry dedicated to caring for children, including those with special needs. What began as one family's calling had grown into an organized ministry serving children and families through Christ's love.

Hope Reaches Beyond Borders

Galilean's ministry reached beyond the United States as Jerry and Sandy served children in Honduras. Moved by the needs they witnessed, they welcomed children with disabilities into their own ministry, where they received the care, prosthetics, education, and love they needed to thrive.

Galilean Christian Academy Opens

Recognizing the importance of nurturing both hearts and minds, Galilean Christian Academy was established to provide students with a Christ-centered education. The academy continues to prepare young people for lives of faith and purpose.

The First Quilt Auction

The very first Quilt Auction was held at Lexington Green, bringing together churches, families, and supporters with a shared desire to strengthen the ministry. What began that day has grown into one of Galilean's most cherished annual traditions.

Angel House Opens

Galilean expanded its ministry through Angel House, providing care and hope for vulnerable babies and toddlers. During its years of operation, more than 1,000 infants and young children were lovingly cared for through this life-changing ministry.

Recognized at the White House

Jerry and Sandy Tucker were honored at the White House with the Points of Light Foundation Volunteer Service Award, presented by President and Mrs. Bush. Chosen from more than 4,500 nominees, they were among only 21 recipients recognized for their extraordinary volunteer service and unwavering commitment to children and families.

Bread of Life Café Opens

What began as a small Christian bookstore to help support the ministry grew into the Bread of Life Café. Since opening in 1995, the restaurant has served thousands of guests while helping provide ongoing support for Galilean Home Ministries.

1999

The Trading Post Opens

The Trading Post opened as another way to support Galilean's mission while serving the surrounding community. Every purchase helped further the ministry's work of caring for children and families.

Honoring Sandy's Legacy

After a courageous battle with cancer, Sandy Tucker went home to be with the Lord. Though deeply missed, her compassion, vision, and unwavering faith continue to shape Galilean Home Ministries and the countless lives she touched.

Jerry's Homegoing

In 2026, Jerry Tucker entered the presence of the Lord after a lifetime devoted to serving children and sharing Christ's love. His legacy lives on through the ministry he helped build and the generations of lives forever changed because he answered God's call.

The Mission Continues

More than six decades after Jerry and Sandy began following God's call, Galilean Home Ministries continues to provide loving homes, Christ-centered education, community outreach, and hope for children and families. Under the leadership of Isaac Tucker (Jerry's grandson), the mission remains the same—sharing the love of Christ and always making room for one more.

Today

Every Person Has a Place Here

About Us, And Who We Serve
At Galilean, we don't simply care for people. We get to know them. We learn their personalities, celebrate their accomplishments, laugh with them, and walk alongside them through the ordinary and extraordinary moments of life.
Every person who comes to Galilean has different needs and circumstances, but each one is welcomed with the same conviction: their life has value, their story matters, and they deserve a place to belong.

A Place to Call Home

Some come to Galilean because they need a safe, stable place where they can receive the care and support they need each day. For some, that care may be lifelong. For others, Galilean becomes a place where they can grow, develop greater independence, and discover new possibilities.
Whatever brings someone through our doors, our desire is to make this more than a place to receive care. We want it to feel like home.

Room to Grow

Every person has abilities, interests, and things they can contribute. Galilean seeks to create opportunities for residents to learn new skills, participate in meaningful activities, build relationships, and experience the satisfaction of doing something for themselves and others.
Sometimes growth looks like learning a new skill. Sometimes it's taking on a responsibility, discovering a new interest, or simply accomplishing something that once seemed out of reach. We celebrate every step forward.

A Family to Belong To

For many people, having a place where they are truly known and accepted can make all the difference.
At Galilean, residents become part of a community where friendships are formed, meals are shared, birthdays are celebrated, and people walk through life's challenges together. They aren't simply people receiving services from a ministry. They are part of the Galilean family.

One Mission. Many lives.

Over the years, God has opened new doors for Galilean Home Ministries to serve people in different ways. While each ministry has its own purpose, they all share the same heart: serving others with compassion, excellence, and the love of Christ.

Meet Our Leadership

Behind every ministry are people who have answered God's call to serve.
Our leadership team and Board of Directors are committed to carrying forward the vision that began more than fifty years ago. Together, they work to ensure Galilean Home Ministries remains a place where every person is treated with dignity, compassion, and the love of Christ.
While roles and responsibilities may differ, they share one common purpose: faithfully stewarding the ministry God has entrusted to them and serving every resident, family, supporter, and volunteer with humility and integrity.

Isaac Tucker

President & CEO
Isaac Tucker serves as President and CEO of Galilean Home Ministries, a mission woven into his life from the beginning. The grandson of founders Jerry and Sandy Tucker, he grew up witnessing the faith and compassion that shaped the ministry. Today he leads Galilean’s residential care, education, outreach, and mission-supporting enterprises, committed to faithful stewardship and sustainable growth for generations to come. Isaac and his wife, who first visited Galilean on a mission trip as a teenager, are raising three children together. For Isaac, leading Galilean is an opportunity to steward what God has built and honor those who came before him.

Sandi Tucker

Secretary & Treasurer
Sandi Davidson’s connection to Galilean Home Ministries began before she was born. Her dad was the first child adopted by founders Jerry and Sandy Tucker, so Galilean has always been family. She attended Galilean Christian Academy from elementary school through graduation, and her own children now attend as well. Starting as a teenager at Bread of Life Café, she has served in many roles, from caring for babies at the Angel House to working in the administrative office, and now serves as Secretary and Treasurer. For Sandi, the residents, students, and families of Galilean are family.

Our Driving Mission

We will, with honesty, integrity, and great privilege, provide children of all ages, from one day old to “children in their 50’s and beyond”, with love, care, medical attention, education, employment, and recreation.
We feel that, through sharing each other’s knowledge, skills, and abilities, all will benefit and flourish. We do this in a family-oriented setting, making all who come under our care feel as though they belong to bigger than themselves.
We emphasize that all members of our organization work together to accomplish our common goals. We feel that, through sharing each other’s knowledge, skills, and abilities, all will benefit and flourish.

God's Faithfulness Through the Years

Looking back over more than five decades, it's impossible not to see God's hand at work.
From one family's willingness to open their home... to a ministry that now includes residential care, Christian education, and more... every chapter has been a testimony to God's provision and the faithfulness of people who chose to walk alongside this ministry.
We're deeply grateful for every resident whose life has become part of this story, every staff member who has faithfully served, every volunteer who has generously given their time, every church that has faithfully prayed, and every supporter who has made this ministry possible.
None of us could have written this story on our own.
We're simply grateful to be part of what God continues to do through Galilean Home Ministries.

Continue the Story

The story of Galilean Home Ministries is still being written.
Every prayer offered, every hour volunteered, every gift given, and every act of kindness helps continue a mission that began more than fifty years ago with one family saying "yes."
If God is leading you to become part of that story, we'd be honored to welcome you.
Whether you choose to pray, volunteer, give, or simply stay connected, your partnership helps create a place where children and adults with special needs can continue experiencing hope, belonging, and the love of Christ.
